Medvednica Eco Action
On March 24th the MYP students went to the Medvednica Nature Park, more preciously to Planina Gornja that is located on the south-eastern hillsides of Medvednica. Our hosts - members of the association ‘Planinska družina’ gave as a warm welcome and prepare for us a variety of outdoor team-building activities. We were especially happy because we met two cute dogs – Lu and Kiki. They were quite curious and socialized easily with us.
First, we were exploring the watermills and educational trail along the Vukov Dol Stream. Along the trail there were some field games for us to play like climbing, shooting the cans down, balancing, tire swing, rope swing etc.
Afterwards the first group (MYP1 and MYP2 students) went on a hiking tour during which we saw old watermills and collected tree branches to be used for a campfire and making outdoor benches. After the third mill, the path led steeply through the forest to the Church of St. Juraj. Next to the church we could see an 800-year-old linden tree.
The other group (MYP0 and MYP3 students) visited the beautiful Sovinjak Estate where we learnt about composting and enjoyed our free time playing zip-line and other entertaining games. When we came back to the Igrc watermill the MYP0 students built a shelter in the forest and the MYP3 students helped the members of the association ‘Planinska družina’ in collecting tree branches and rearranging outdoor benches.
We spent a wonderful time in nature. While embracing the beautiful, sunny day we welcomed the new spring season in a best way - connecting with nature and spending some quality time with our classmates and teachers. The accompanying photo gallery shows the best how educational and fun this eco action was. We are thankful to Ms. Marina and Mr. Blažek for their hospitality and we are all looking forward to our next visit.
