Mix It Up
In a world where the boundaries between art, literature, and play are blurred, Hervé Tullet's "Mix It Up", interactive picture book invited PYP1 students to explore, experiment, and engage with colors in a hands-on way.
Students begin their color mixing journey by becoming familiar with the primary colors as the building blocks of all other colors: red, blue, and yellow. The color wheel, a rainbow circle, was a fundamental tool for them to understand color mixing and showcasing the relationship between colors.
But here's the cool part: mixing colors isn't just for art. Students found out that colors are also in science, math, music, and games. They discovered how colors interact through the absorption and reflection of light. They were composing their patterns by mixing different shapes and colors to notate rhythmical body percussion beats.
